Legal Document Categorisation
The challenge
Legal teams receive large volumes of contracts, filings, and correspondence. Sorting and routing them by hand is slow, expensive, and error-prone.
What we built
We built a tool that categorises legal documents automatically by type and topic, using classification models trained for legal language.
Documents reach the right lawyer or team faster, and the archive becomes searchable by what documents are about, not just their file names. The tool has been demonstrated in an operational setting and fits a short proof of concept on a firm’s own documents.
Business value
- Much less time spent sorting documents
- Faster routing to the right lawyer or team
- Better search and retrieval across the archive
- Consistent categories, every time
Where else it applies
The same approach transfers to insurance claims, banking compliance, public administration, and HR. It belongs to our Document and Knowledge AI work: software that reads, sorts, and answers questions from documents, so teams stop searching and re-entering information by hand.
Task
Sort and route large volumes of legal documents without manual work.
