Smart Factory with Additive Manufacturing Data
The challenge
Factories adopting additive manufacturing (industrial 3D printing) struggle to connect it with the rest of production and to plan it well.
What we built
We built a smart factory concept powered by data science that connects additive manufacturing with production data for planning and quality control.
Factories get better planning of 3D printing jobs, quality insight from their own data, and a path to flexible, on-demand production. The concept has been validated in the lab.
Business value
- Better planning of additive production
- Quality insight from production data
- A path to flexible, on-demand production
- 3D printing connected to the rest of the factory
Where else it applies
The same approach transfers to aerospace and automotive suppliers, medical devices, and spare parts. It belongs to our Operations and Route Planning work: vehicles, stock, and production planned around real demand and real risk, not fixed schedules and spreadsheets.
Task
Connect industrial 3D printing with the rest of production.
